    Responsibilities
    If selected for this position, you will serve as a Coordination Center Officer (CCO), supporting all Coordination Center (CC) core functions and providing operation support for CC activities within the Office of Security Operations (OSO), Transportation Security Administration (TSA), Department of Homeland Security (DHS). You will also be reviewing data inputs to provide quality assurance, assisting with data requests, determining interrelationships, identifying anomalies, and making assessments or recommendations. Duties include, but are not limited to:
    • Supporting security from functions and operations such as Visible Intermodal Prevention and Response (VIPR), Playbook, Screening Passengers by Observation Techniques (SPOT) operations, Transportation Security Specialist - Explosives (TSS-E) operations, Travel Document Check (TDC) operations, and other activities and applicable operations.
    • Coordinating and tracking the readiness status and maintenance of technical equipment, CC-issued keys, and contingency communications equipment.
    • Preparing reports and briefings for superiors related to significant security incidents such as bomb threats, on-board disturbances, security access control events, airport screening operations, airport statistical data, and inspections and law enforcement activities.
    • Responding to notification of critical security incidents and applying incident management and emergency management procedures designed to minimize loss of life, property damage, and other resources. Referring incidents outside of normal standard operating procedures to the appropriate staff members for resolution.
    • Reviews incident reports for accuracy and completeness to ensure proper reporting procedures have been followed. Inputting incident report data using various systems such as PARIS. Assisting senior employees or supervisor in preparing reports and briefings on issues related to significant security incidents such as bomb threats, on-board disturbances, security access control events, airport screening operations, airport statistical data, and inspection and law enforcement activities.
    Travel Required
    Occasional travel - A minimum of one (1) week of travel in a full-time duty status will be required within 90-days of entry on duty to complete TSA’s in residence New Hire Training. This training will occur away from the employee’s duty station of record. Employees will be paid for compensable hours and reimbursed for authorized travel expenses per TSA Travel Policy.

    Conditions Of Employment
    • Appointment to this position is contingent upon a negative drug test result.
    • Any individual tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
    • Requires successful background investigation for a Secret level security clearance and must maintain eligibility for designated clearance.
    • You must be available to work various shifts and overtime, as needed.
    • You must possess U.S. Citizenship or be a U.S. National.
    • This position is not a law enforcement position and therefore, is not covered by Law Enforcement Availability Pay or Law Enforcement Retirement.

    Qualifications
    To qualify for the SV-G Pay Band (equivalent to GS-10/11), you must have one year of experience equivalent to at least the SV-F Pay Band or GS-9 in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector, which included gathering and analyzing data or environmental conditions in a security operations center environment to identify potential risks/threats to aviation or other modes of transportation; making independent determinations regarding risk assessment information to be provided to the supervisor, manager, or law enforcement for additional action or follow-up; and establishing and/or maintaining work relationships with a variety of staff or stakeholders to ensure effective security operations.
    Examples Of Qualifying Specialized Experience Must Demonstrate The Following
    • Understanding of the notification procedures involved in the preparation of incident response.
    • Ability to monitor security systems in various situations to provide protection to people and property.
    • Ability to detect, schedule, and document the need for staff/emergency responders to move to specific locations.
    • Effectively worked in an emergency call or responsive dispatch center.
    • Knowledge and understanding of work-related safety practices, OSHA, and environmental rules and regulations, particularly in trauma, disaster preparedness and responsiveness.
    • Ability to use a computer and communication devices to perform essential functions of the position.
    • Effective communication, analytical, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
    National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
    Note: Applicants who have performed aviation security screening duties at the SV-F Pay Band or higher will receive credit towards this position’s specialized experience requirement.
    Credit for experience is given based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio, i.e., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience. No additional credit is given for overtime.
